Mike Price-
Director and Hands on Operator
Ever since Mike was a little kid, he’s been an achiever. He’s an entrepreneur, a guy full of ideas and he makes his ideas happen . He’s got a huge amount of energy, passion, patience and drive. He’s not only passionate about his business; he’s also passionate about outstanding and friendly customer service which is why you’ll always receive the royal treatment once you step in the doors of Store-it.
Mike hails from Durban, South Africa and like many young guys looking for an adventure he only planned on staying New Zealand’s shores for 6 months while backpacking around in 1992. “I went to Queenstown and like everyone who visits there, I caught the bug and didn’t leave,” he candidly explains. After his 6 month stint in Queenstown, he thought it was time he got a “real” job and thanks to his BSc in Agriculture, he started working in sales for a Wellington based veterinary pharmaceutical business. Later down the track he landed a job for British Paints as a brand manager and it was at this point in his life that he started developing a keen interest in property investment.
Mike never pictured himself being the owner and director of a New Zealand storage business. However, a chance encounter and a random conversation with a friend in the building industry got him thinking and when the rare opportunity presented itself, he didn’t think twice and grabbed it, which is how the company Store-it, came about in 2003.
Today Mike passionately leads the Store-it team. He plays a part in setting Store-it’s strategy and with great enthusiasm he plans and assists in the execution of all of the company’s strategies through his dedicated team. He’s a hands on kind of guy and like any owner and operator, who feels a great passion for what they do, he takes an active part in developing all the possibilities and capabilities of the business and all the people involved. Mike has adopted the great kiwi “We can” attitude, and this shows in his passion for running, maintaining and expanding a business that has more than a touch of “Australasian class”.
Mike’s hard work hasn’t gone unnoticed here in New Zealand and across the pond in Australia and in 2008 he was elected and appointed as a board member of the Self Storage Association of Australasia.
Mike is happily married to a great Kiwi woman, Michelle. Together they’ve got two very energetic and happy-go-lucky daughters, Ella and Lucy. Mike is also the father of Joel. When Mike’s not busy putting all his passion and hard work into Store-it, he’s in the great New Zealand outdoors running, mountain biking and spending time at his family’s bach, which is located on a remote farm in the stunning Wairarapa.
Cherry Cruz-
Team Co-ordinator
Originally from Manila, Cherry Cruz first embarked in a career in banking. She’s proficient in what she does and has an admirable amount of knowledge when it comes to administration and office procedures.
Cherry’s career has helped her land much coveted roles in Manila, Singapore and New Zealand and with her international experience and knowledge, she has the aptitude to foster great working relationships with people from all walks of life.
When she’s not busy helping lead the team at Store-it, she spends her time with her lovely family which includes four very energetic and lovable nephews and nieces. She loves photography and has a great passion when it comes to snapping away on her camera, but the same can’t be said about cooking which she tries to avoid.
Tracey Gollings-Administration and Sales Team member
Tracey, originally from the UK now calls New Zealand home. Married with two kids, Tracey has a corporate background in Foreign Exchange, Banking and Events Management. She’s worked in the UK, Australia and now in New Zealand.
After two years of extensive travel exploring the globe, she moved back to the UK, where she purchased a hospitality business which she later sold and as a result it allowed her and her family to immigrate to New Zealand, a move she doesn’t regret.
For six years, Tracey worked for a top Wellington Events company as a manager which allowed her to work alongside and mingle with some of New Zealand’s most famous celebrities and sporting personalities. She comes from a background that focuses on good service and she really finds great pleasure in putting all her organisational skills to use. She likes the unknown and the unpredictability of not knowing what’s around the next corner. She loves a good challenge and because of her adaptability she’s able to meet every challenge she faces with a huge smile.
A great communicator with an adept ability to multi-task, she has a keen eye for detail. Simply put, Tracey is driven by customer satisfaction. Working at Store-it allows Tracey the chance to merge all her past working experiences into one role, something that the customers of Store-it value.
Vanessa Brougham-
Assistant to Mike and Accounts Administrator
Vanessa, more commonly known as Ness, is a people’s person who gets great satisfaction from helping any person or group of people right from the get go. She’s a fantastic communicator and this allows her to foster and maintain great relationships.
Ness considers one of the greatest rewards of the job to be a person who’s able to bring a smile to someone’s face – she loves knowing that she’s been a part of making their day.
Ness grew up in the big smoke of New Zealand, Auckland and later moved further south to Wellington with her family.
Ness held a number of varied positions working in business admin and managerial positions before she finally ended up working with Mike. She’s worked in a number of different sectors ranging from a petroleum company to government departments. As soon as she was offered a position working with Store-it, she knew that Mike needed her. She’s able to see the positive in everything and that coupled with the fact that she’s also very pragmatic meant that she was a great addition to the Store-it team.
Past comments from Ness’ previous colleagues and managers sum her up well: “We’re going to miss your happy “good morning” and smile,” claims one previous colleague. Another says, “Man, it’s going to be really quiet and boring when you’re gone!” Someone else commented, “Wishing you all the best Ness. You’re definitely going to be missed. You’ve been like a breath of fresh air.”
Her passions, although not really related, lie in cars and people. When she’s taking a bit of a breather from any of her 4 jobs, Ness loves heading out into nature and going for walks and hanging with the main men her life (her partner and son), and we can’t forget her love of motorsport.
Ness lives life to the full and together with her friends and family she makes the most out every opportunity that’s been presented.
Bronte – Resident Guard
Bronte is our star team member and our resident reliable security system. She’s eager to come to work and for the 11 years that she’s been a member of the Store-it team she hasn’t purposefully missed a day off work unless of course she’s at home taking care of the girls during the school holiday period.
Now almost 13-years of age, she’s blind, losing her hearing and considerably slower than before so if you happen to see her out on the driveway, please do slow down.
She’s always happy to meet new people and you won’t be an exception if you visit the site. She’ll give you the customary sniff to see if you pass the security check, she’ll give you a quick lick and let you through.
Come on down, make her day and give her a good old pat. If she’s not out on the drive, you’re most likely to find her curled up in her special bed in Mike’s office dreaming about bones, food and all the other good things in life.
